Deleted documents file recovery
But all is not lost. There is always hope of data recovery, provided you act quickly and logically.
A deleted file is nothing, but an area on the hard drive that has been marked as free space by the file system, and is ready to be overwritten by new data. The data in the deleted file still exists on that hard drive, until and unless the disk space occupied by the deleted file gets overwritten by a new file. Due to this fact, it is possible to recover deleted files.
The most important precaution to be taken, to make data recovery successful, is to stop performing any Read/Write operation on the drive from which you are planning to recover the data. Activities like, copying files to the drive, installing programs, or running programs that use the disk space, may result in permanent erasure of the deleted data, making it impossible to recover the lost documents.
REMO Recover (Windows) Basic Edition scans your hard drive for deleted files and recovers all the deleted files, keeping the contents of the file intact. The software lets you save the data onto a safe location, which can then be accessed as before.
Follow the simple steps given below, to recover deleted documents, using REMO Recover (Windows) Basic Edition.
Step 1: Launch the application either by double clicking the desktop shortcut, or by selecting the icon from the Programs List in the Start Menu. The main window pops up, as shown in Figure a.Click on the Recover Deleted Data option.

Step 4: Once recovery is complete and tree structure is formed, the next and final step is to restore your found files and folders to a safe location.
Before restoring the found files and folders, you can use the following:
- The Find option by clicking the
button, to locate the file, or types of files you wish to recover, by entering the filename or the file extension. For e.g. filename.* or *.txt . - The Find Next option, by clicking the
button, to locate subsequent files with the same file extension, in the selected folders, that form a part of the tree structure
- You can also use the Preview function to preview the file, before it is recovered.
Select the data you wish to recover, or click on the Root folder to select all the found data, and click the
button.

Figure d: Select destination drive
A window to select the destination drive, onto which the recovered data has to be restored, is displayed, as shown in Figure d. Select the destination drive, and specify the file types you wish to ignore (file filter) while saving, and click the
button.
Note: Select the Compress Data option, if you want to save the data in a compressed format.
As you click the OK button, the program starts saving the data onto the selected destination drive. Once saving is complete, a message pops up intimating the same.
All the data will be saved into a new folder by name “UndeleteX” in the selected destination drive. You can now access your recovered data as before.
