Recover deleted emails from Outlook Express
Recovering lost or deleted e-mails from Outlook Express involves two main operations.
- Repair .dbx files
- Import e-mails to Outlook Express
Please follow the steps below to recover corrupted .dbx files.
Step 1: Run the program either by double clicking application shortcut from desktop or from Programs list in Start menu. The program main Window is displayed as shown in Figure a.

Step 2: Click on , to select a .dbx file that has lost/deleted e-mails. The program scans the drive for .dbx files and lists all the identities present in the drive. Select an identity which has corrupted .dbx file. The program displays all the .dbx files from the selected identity as shown in Figure b.

Step 3: Select a .dbx file that has lost or deleted e-mails and click on Next. As you click on Next button, the program displays a Window to select destination path to save your recovered e-mails (See Figure c).

Click on Browse button to select the destination path, check “Compress recovered data” option if you wish to save recovered data in compressed form and click on OK. As soon as you click on OK button, the program starts recovering selected .dbx file to locate lost/ deleted e-mails and recovers all found e-mails in a new folder by name “xxxx recovered” in selected destination location. All the found e-mails will be recovered in .eml format.
You can now import these e-mails (.eml files) into Outlook Express folders in the Outlook Express program, or double-click the .eml files to read them.
