Common partition loss scenarios on Windows
Partition loss due to errors during re-formatting – There are often times when you convert a partition from one file system to another (for e.g. from NTFS to FAT). However, if this conversion is incomplete or fails due to some error, it may lead to loss of that particular partition.
Partition loss due to partitioning errors – Errors during the re-partitioning process or incomplete partitioning due to power outage may result in loss of healthy partitions leading to data loss
Loss of partitions due to corruption of the boot sector - Corruption of the boot sector of a partition may lead to loss of that particular partition, making the data present on that partition inaccessible.
How to Recover Lost Partition?
Step 1: Connect your hard drive as a slave to another healthy PC after disconnecting it from your PC
Step 2: Download and install the Remo Recover (Windows) to the system to which the affected hard drive has been connected
Step 3: Double-click the desktop shortcut or use the Start Menu to launch the software
Step 4: The main screen is displayed as shown in Figure 1. From the options available, select the “Recover Partitions / Drives” option as shown in Figure 1.
Step 5: Select “Partition Recovery” option to recover data from lost partition as shown in Figure 2
Step 6: The detected physical drive are displayed in a new window as shown in Figure 3
Step 7: Select the physical drive from which lost partition needs to be recovered, and click on “Next” to start the scanning process as shown in Figure 3
Step 8: On completion of the scanning process the list of found partitions / drives will be displayed, as shown in Figure 4
Step 9: Select the appropriate drives / partitions from the ones that are displayed in the drive list and click “Next”
Step 10: You can perform an additional search for files on the basis of their unique signatures by selecting the appropriate file types. Alternatively you can also skip this process and continue with normal deep scanning as shown in Figure 5
Step 11: Once the scanning procedure is finished, you have the option to view the recovered data using "File Type View" or "Data View" option as shown in Figure 6
Step 12: The “Save Recovery Session” option lets you save the scanned information that can be used when you resume the recovery process as shown in Figure 7
Step 13: You can purchase the software once you are satisfied with the recovery results. Later, you can activate the software and use the option “Open Recovery Session” to load previously saved scanned information and continues with the saving process as shown in Figure 8
Note: Avoid installing Remo Recover software or saving any recovered files on the drive or partition, which contains deleted / lost data. This may overwrite the deleted / lost data leading to permanent data loss
