Common scenarios in which Outlook Inbox gets corrupted

Major reason for data loss in Microsoft Outlook is corruption. Outlook inbox gets corrupted due to the following reasons

Corruption of inbox.pst file: Viruses, human error, and software malfunction cause Inbox corruption. Opening and modifying inbox folder improperly  may also lead to corruption

Improper system shutdown: Inbox may get corrupt when you shutdown the system improperly before exiting the Microsoft Outlook

Common reasons for inbox corruption: Corruption of the Microsoft Office inbox folder is caused when

• Outlook PST file exceeding  2 GB size limit
• Outlook PST file is used over a network
• PST file header gets corrupt
• While compacting a PST archive

How to Repair Outlook Inbox PST File?

Step 1: Download and install free demo version of Remo Repair Outlook PST to the computer

Step 2: Launch the software by double clicking on the shortcut or from program files. The main window is displayed as shown in Figure 1

Step 3: You can see three options "Open PST File", "Find PST File" and "Select Outlook Profile" on the main screen as shown in Figure 1

• You can select the "Open PST File" option, if you know the location of  your PST file
• If you are not sure about the location of your PST file, you can search for the PST file using the "Find PST File" option
• Select "Select Outlook Profile" option, if you want to recover PST file related to a particular Outlook profile

Step 4: Based on the option selected in the above step

• Open PST File: If this option has been selected, click on the "Browse" button to open the particular PST file, which you need to repair as shown in Figure 2
• Find PST File: After selecting this option, choose the logical drive from which you need to find the PST file that has to be repaired as shown in Figure 3
• Select Outlook Profile: If you select this option, all the PST files associated with their relevant Outlook profiles will be shown as shown in Figure 4

Step 5: After selecting the PST file that is to be repaired click "Next"

Step 6: You can select either "Normal Scan" or "Smart Scan" option for scanning the PST file. Select the Normal scan option. Click on the "Browse" button to select a destination location onto which you want to save your repaired PST file as shown in Figure 5

Step 7: Click on "Repair" button to start the scanning the PST file as shown in Figure 5

Step 8: After completing the scanning process, you can view recovered emails and other Outlook data in an Outlook styled browser as shown in Figure 6

Step 9: if you are satisfied with the recovery results, you can activate the full version the software

Step 10: Once the software is activated you have to rescan the PST file to recover deleted emails

Step 11: You can import the newly created PST file in to Microsoft Outlook, and access your emails as before

Note: Use "Smart Scan" option to recover the emails in case of severe PST file corruption.
