Common Scenarios in which Images could get Deleted / Lost
Unintentionally deleting images – At times, you may delete images accidentally using the Delete button on the camera. You may accidentally delete the photos on your computer using Shift+ Delete keys or by emptying your Recycle Bin
Photo loss due to memory card corruption – The images on your memory card might become inaccessible when the memory card gets corrupted due to damaged file system or due to improper ejection of the memory card from the card reader
Images lost during transfer from one device to another – You might end up losing images captured using your professional DSLR when an error occurs during transfer of images from the memory card onto your computer or any other storage device
Loss of images due to accidental formatting – Formatting the memory card in the camera, either by using format option provided in the camera or having to format your memory card when it shows an error could lead to loss of images
Capturing images when the camera is low on battery – Capturing images with your professional DSLR when the camera is low on battery could lead to loss of photos
How to Recover Deleted Images?
Step 1: Download and install free trial edition of Remo Recover (Windows) and launch the program
Step 2: From the main screen select the “Recover Photos” option as shown in Figure 1
Step 3: The next screen displays two options, "Recover Deleted Photos" and "Recover Lost Photos". Select "Recover Deleted Photos" as shown in Figure 2 or "Recover Lost Photos"option as shown in Figure 3, to recover deleted photos from the any drive / partition and proceed to step 4 given below
Step 4: To manually select partition / drive and perform RAW signature search select the “Recover Lost Photos” option from the screen.
Step 5: The software displays the list of logical drives that are detected. Select the logical drive from which the photos need to be recovered and click "Next", as shown in Figure 4
Step 6: A list of file types that can be recovered is displayed as shown in Figure 5. You can select all the file types or select a specific file type based on your requirement. Once the file type is selected, click on "Next"
Step 7: On clicking the "Next" button, the software starts scanning the selected partition
Step 8: Once the scanning process is finished, you can use the "File Type View" / " Data View" option to view the recovered images as shown in Figure 6
Step 9: You can use the "Save Recovery Session" option to save the scanned information, which can be used when you resume the recovery process, as shown in Figure 7
Make use of Remo Recover (Mac) to recover images on Mac OS X
Note: Avoid installing any software (image recovery tool) or saving any recovered files on the drive or partition, which contains deleted / lost data. This may overwrite the deleted / lost data leading to permanent data loss
