I have accidentally formatted my Transcend SD Card, which was having lots of unsaved photos. Is there a chance to recover those photos?

It is certainly possible to get back your lost photos from the formatted SD card. However, chances of recovering your photos will depend on these factors

  1. Make sure you have not used the SD card to store new photos. If you have used the memory card to save files after it was formatted, then the chances of recovering lost photos will reduce.
  2. You must not use the card to store even a single byte of data and should avoid any attempt that might store data on this card. This will help you in ensuring that deleted data is not overwritten and can be recovered.
  3. Do not run any disk checking / repairing utilities, which comprises of defrag, file system scan like chkdsk etc. This could cause irreversible changes to your memory card, resulting in loss of recoverable data.

If I use Remo Recover software, will the software modify the deleted data or the recoverable data, which can be recovered from my drive?

No, Remo Recover software is a Read-Only application and it will not write any thing on the drive from where it is recovering data. However, you must be very careful when you are using the software to recover data.

  1. You mustn’t install / download the software on the drive from where you are recovering.
  2. You must not save recovered data or save the recovery session information on the same drive.

If you keep your source drive untouched (i.e. prevent any disk writing attempts), you have a higher chance of recovering most of your lost data in working state.

  1. Either the drive has mechanical or component level damage or is gradually dying.
  2. There are lots of BAD sectors on the drive
  3. Failure of S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) function in any of the attached hard drive
