Common Causes for PST Corruption

PST files oversized above 2GB: When PST file exceeds more than 2 GB size limit, PST file gets corrupted and Outlook will not let you to open or save any new data on it.

Sharing PST files over network:  Sharing a PST file across a network may lead to PST file corruption due to accidental deletion / modification of PST file data.

PST files header corruption: PST files may get corrupted or damaged due to various reasons like virus attack in the system, exceed in size, improper system shut down results in PST files header corruptions.

How to Recover PST File from Outlook?

You can easily and safely repair corrupted PST file using Outlook PST recovery software. Follow the easy steps given below to repair PST files and recover deleted emails from corrupt PST files.

Step 1: Download and install free demo version of Remo Repair Outlook PST to the computer, to perform oversized PST recovery

Step 2: Launch the program by using the Start Menu > Programs, or by double-clicking the shortcut icon present on the desktop

Step 3: Once the software is launched, you can find three options “Open PST File”, “Find PST File” and “Select Outlook Profile” on the main screen as shown in Figure 1

• If you know the location of  your PST file, select the “Open PST File” option
• If you are not sure about the location of your PST file then select “Find PST File” option
• If you want to recover PST file based on the Outlook profile select “Select Outlook Profile” option

Step 4: Based on the option selected in the previous step

• Open PST File:  If you select this option, click on the “Browse” button to select the particular PST file, which you need to repair as shown in Figure 2
• Find PST File: If this option has been selected, then choose the logical drive on which you need to find the PST file that has to be repaired as shown in Figure 3
• Select Outlook Profile: If you select this option, all the PST files associated with their respective Outlook profiles will be displayed as shown in Figure 4

Step 5: Once if you selected the PST file that is to be repaired click “Next”

Step 6: Select the “Smart Scan” option and the destination location to where you want to save the recovered PST file as shown in Figure 5

Step 7: Click on “Repair” button to start the scanning process as shown in Figure 5

Step 8: Once scanning process is finished, you can view recovered emails and other Outlook data as shown in Figure 6

Step 9: If you are satisfied with the recovery results, you can activate the full version the software and re-scan the corrupted PST file to recover deleted emails

Note: If you are performing PST file repair make sure that you have closed Outlook on the computer. And avoid downloading new emails while repairing PST file.
