Recover lost data from SD card
SD (Secure Digital) cards are small, but high capacity memory cards, having standard storage capacities, ranging from 1MB to 4GB.They are also available in higher capacities that range from 4GB to 32GB. They are commonly used in small portable devices like digital cameras, hand held computers, PDAs, mobile phones, GPS receivers, camcorders, audio players, video game consoles etc. The other formats of SD cards are SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity),SDXC, microSD and miniSD cards. SD cards are designed to support various files types like image files, audio files, video files, etc.
However, like any other storage device, SD cards are also prone to corruption and data loss. The following scenarios may contribute to the logical crash of an SD card, leading to loss of photos:
- Accidental deletion of files (human error)
- Corruption of the file system
- Accidental formatting
- Abrupt system shut down while transferring files from SD card to computer and vice-versa
- Improper detaching of the SD card from the PC
Due to such situations, you would not be able to access the files stored on your SD card. Since you are not able to see the files stored on your SD card, it does not mean that they are gone for ever.Only the file table entry of the file is deleted, and not the data present in the file. The data still exists on the card, and is recoverable, if the necessary precautions are taken, and the right software is used.
