Recover Photos
I accidentally lost the only copies of some precious photos that were stored on my digital camera’s memory card, before I got a chance to import them. Is there any way to get them back?
There is a chance that you will be able to get back some or all of your digital photos. Recovery of digital photos from various storage media, is the most commonly performed data recovery task. The very fact, that digital storage media is much fragile compared to photographic prints, makes loss of photos a nightmare for users who do not keep a copy of the photos taken by them.
Unless the damage to the medium is purely physical, chances to recover photos is very high. However, chances of photos stored on hard drives and memory card getting overwritten is pretty high. To avoid this overwrite from happening, it is advised that you avoid usage of the affected media, until all the data has been recovered.
Precautionary measures to be taken
If you have lost photos, ensure that you do not write data to your Digital camera memory card until you have the opportunity to attempt lost photo recovery. Any further data written to the memory card may overwrite and destroy the data and reduce the chance of recovery.
STOP taking any further digital photos using the card and avoid using any software which may write to the memory card. If you take any more photos or save any data to your memory card, you may reduce your chances of photo recovery to a great extent.
