Restore lost data from SD card
However, like any other storage device, SD cards are also prone to corruption and data loss.The following scenarios may contribute to the logical crash of an SD card, leading to loss of photos:
- Accidental deletion of files (human error)
- Corruption of the file system
- Accidental formatting
- Abrupt system shut down while transferring files from SD card to computer and vice-versa
- Improper detaching of the SD card from the PC
Due to such situations, you would not be able to access the files stored on your SD card. Since you are not able to see the files stored on your SD card, it does not mean that they are gone for ever.Only the file table entry of the file is deleted,and not the data present in the file. The data still exists on the card, and is recoverable, if the necessary precautions are taken, and the right software is used.

Follow the steps explained below to recover lost data from an SD card using REMO Recover (Windows) Media Edition software.
Important: Stop using the SD card for any further Read/Write operations. Further use of the SD card might destroy the data to be recovered, rendering the data unrecoverable.It is suggested, that you instantly write-protect the card, according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Step 1: Download and install the software onto your PC. Connect the card to your PC, using a card reader.Make sure that the card is detected by your PC.If the SD card is not detected on your PC, try connecting it to another PC. This will let you know, if the SD card has any physical damage
Step 2: Launch the application either by double clicking the desktop shortcut, or by selecting the icon from the Programs list in the Start menu.The Main window pops up, as shown in Figure a.

Step 3: Click on the
button. A new window is displayed,as shown in Figure b. The new window displays all the detected physical drives connected to your PC.

Select the physical drive which contains the lost / deleted data that needs to be recovered, and click on the
button.
Note: If the drive you are looking for is not listed in the list of drives, then click on the
button. This will detect recently connected drives, and display it in the list of drives.
Step 4: As you click the Next Button,a new window displays the file types that can be recovered, as shown in Figure c. Select the required file types you wish to recover, or click on the
button, to select all the file types, and click on the
button, as shown in Figure c.

Step 5: As you click the Next button, the program starts scanning the selected drive for the specified file types, and lists all the found files and folders in a tree format, grouped according to their file types, as shown in Figure d.

Step 6: After scanning, the next and final step in the recovery process, is to save the found data onto a safe location. Select the data you wish to recover or click on the Root folder to select all the data, and click on the
button. As you click the Save button, a window to select the destination drive is displayed, as shown in Figure e.

Step 7: Select the destination drive where you would like to save the recovered data and click on the OK button.
Note: If you want to save your data in a compressed format,select the Compress Data option, and click on the OK button.
As soon as you click the OK button, the software starts saving the data to the selected destination drive, and will pop up a message, once saving is completed, intimating the same.
All the data will be saved into a new folder by name “RemoRecoverPhotoxx xx xx* ” in the specified destination drive.
Important :
- You can preview the file, before recovery, using the Preview option. To preview the file, double click on the file whose preview is to be seen. This will display the preview of the file, before you could recover it.
- The software also provides a Save scan info option.Using this feature you can re-load the recovered data tree from previous scan.This features comes in handy when you are evaluating the Demo Version. The Save scan info can be used in the Full Version, to recover data without rescanning the whole drive again.
- Never copy / save anything onto the drive from which data is being recovered. This may cause overwriting of the recovering data, resulting in permanent data loss.
- The Save option is disabled in the Demo Version of the software. You can only preview the files in the Demo Version.The Save option gets enabled, once you buy the Full Version.
