Cloud storage is a model of networked online storage service in which data is stored in virtualized pools of storage that are generally hosted by third parties. It lets the users to store their data or resources on remote servers that are accessed through internet. These are operated, maintained and managed by highly specialized companies (service providers) that are built on virtualization techniques.

Cloud storage works with the data center virtualization, which can be customized based on the application requirements with the help of its virtual storage architecture. Private Cloud Storage: Private cloud storage is designed for one person or company that is specific to their needs. In this type both the enterprise and cloud storage provider are integrated in the enterprise's data center. Private cloud storage provides the same scalability, flexibility and storage mechanism with more restricted or non-public access.

Moreover, individual company or the user has more administrative control and can design the system as they want to accomplish in the way of business needs.

Public Cloud Storage: This type of cloud storage requires minor administrative controls and can be accessed online by any anyone who is authorized. As the cloud storage provider manages the enterprise's public cloud storage completely. The user doesn’t need to maintain the system as much as they did with a private cloud.

Personal Cloud Storage: It is a subset of public cloud storage that consists of storing an individual's data in the cloud and providing the individual with access to the data from anywhere. It is also known as mobile cloud storage, as it provides data syncing and sharing capabilities across multiple devices. Apple's iCloud is an example of personal cloud storage.

Hybrid Cloud Storage: It is a combination of public and private cloud storage types. In this type important data will be stored in the enterprise's private cloud and the other data can be easily stored and accessed from a public cloud storage provider.
