Flash Drive

A small storage device, which is used to transfer files from one computer to another computer, is known as “Flash Drive”.

Generic Types of Flash Drives:

Flash drives are available in two different generic types, which are as follows:

  • USB Flash Drive: It is a storage device, which includes flash memory as well, integrated Universal Serial Bus (USB) interface. USB drives are faster, smaller, removable, rewritable with new files and can store thousands of files based on the capacity. The capacity of USB drive ranges from 1 GB to 256 GB. As USB drives have no moving parts, the durability and reliability is long.
  • Solid-State Flash Drive: An SSD is abbreviated as “Solid State Flash Drive”; it is also called as solid-state disk or electronic disk. It uses electronic interfaces, which are compatible with input/output hard disks. Even SSD’s are used to transfer data from one device to another with computer as the transport medium. The storage capacity of the SSD ranges upto 256 GB.

Why do you need Flash Drive?

The data which is important to us always needs to be stored in more than one place i.e. you need to have backup of the important file. So you need to store a copy of your important data on flash drive and save it away from you system.

A flash drive is a small handy device, which can be plugged into USB port of the system to transfer the data.
