Shareware

Shareware also termed trialware or demoware, is a method of software distribution and marketing, but not a type of program. Shareware is provided to the users on a limited basis and only for certain limited trial basis and pursuant to a license which restricts any commercial benefit, use or exploitation of the software. It is distributed on the Try before you buy basis.

Unlike freeware, shareware often has limited functionality or may only be used for a limited time before requiring payment and registration. Once you pay for a shareware program, the program is fully functional and the time limit is removed. Such Shareware programs are provided as demos. Once the trial period expires, you must pay for the software in order to continue using it. Most shareware demos can be downloaded directly from the software publisher's website.

Some of the examples of shareware include: DVD-Cloner VI, Registry Mechanic, Blue-Cloner, Total Privacy, Easy Movie Splitter 2.5.3, UltraISO 7.6, Internet Download Accelerator 3.1, CloneDVD 4.3 and PHP Debugger 2.1.3.3 and many more.

Advantages of Shareware

Shareware program is very comfortable since it allows the users to try the product before purchasing it. Once a user decides to purchase the full version then, they usually don’t have to download the product again; can just get a license key to convert the trial version into a full version.

Shareware is being used by big concerns and well-known companies as well as by many little firms and individuals. Shareware products can be downloaded usually directly from the manufacturers’ web sites as well as form various download sites also called shareware sites.
