WinZip

WinZip is a most popular file compressor and archival tool for Windows, OS X, iOS and Android developed by WinZip Computing. It is widely used for the purpose of sending and receiving sized files over the internet. WinZip is mainly helpful in organizing more number files into one place by compressing and archives multiples files in one package called zip files. In addition, zip files makes easy for user to send multiple files over internet, thus it reduces utilization of bandwidth.

History

In April 1991, WinZip 1.0 was released as a graphical user interface front end for PKZIP. Before this Nico Mak Computing released a GUI front end for OS/2 presentation manager called PMZIP. In 1993, WinZip launched its customer support on the Windows Utility Forum by serving huge number of members and providing related and updated information.

Release History

Metro Style variant: in November 15, 2012 a metro style variant edition of WinZip was released for Windows 8, Windows RT and Windows server 2012.

Android: In June 19, 2012, Android version was first released. The free English app is designed for Android operating systems 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.1 and 4 and other successor versions.

iOS : iOS version was first released on February 17, 2012. The free English app is designed for iPod, iPhone and iPad Touch.
