How to Shoot, Edit and Share iPhone Live Photos

Live photos have managed to take the excitement up a notch. We have all seen still images but the impact of creating a moving one takes photography to an entirely new and beautiful experience. Before we begin with that let’s get to know exactly what is Live Photo? A Live photo captures both audio and video for 1.5 seconds. When we say, 1.5 seconds we mean 1.5 seconds before you press the shutter button and 1.5 seconds after you press the shutter button to take a photo. That is when you get to experience all the moments that were there before and after the photo was taken with the entire movement carrying all the elements of the image coming together and all the wonderful sound surrounding it. How to Shoot Live Photos:

Before you learn how to shoot Live photos, know that Live Photos was introduced iPhone6s and iPhone6s Plus and it is also available in camera app of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. On how to shoot you will have to Open native camera app and set the shooting mode to photo. Remember, you cannot shoot Live photos in any other shooting mode. The Live photos option is the round icon on the screen located on the left side below. When you see the icon is yellow then, the Live photos are on and if it is not – tap once to turn it on.

When you turn on Live Photos, you will get to see the word ‘Live’ in the yellow box. Remember, the video starts shooting 1.5 seconds before you press the shutter button. So, be quick to create your image to be captured and stay there for a few seconds before you press the shutter. Similarly, your iPhone will continue to record after you have pressed the shutter for another 1.5 seconds. So, again hold your iPhone there for a few seconds.

As mentioned earlier Live photos capture live audio and video – the video part is done now let’s get to the audio. Remember, when you are capturing Live photos any sound you hear will be captured and can be played back. So, make sure to tell your friends, family or muse that you would prefer them to move a few seconds before you press the shutter button. If not, it will be your voice instructing them that will be heard.

How to Edit Live Photos:

Technology advancing has definitely made photography so much easier and fun especially when you get to edit your photos let alone edit Live photos. When you open a Live photo, tap the edit icon that is situated on the right side on top of the screen. On the right of the screenshot below, you will find all the editing tools. With the help of these tools, you will be able to crop, rotate, apply a filter and making adjustments pertaining to lighting and color.

How to Share Live Photos:

Everybody, at one point or the other, has been proud of our shot photos and we all feel the need not just to feel proud about it but also to share it. To know how to go about sharing your Live photos, open your Live photo in the Photos app then tap the share icon that is located on the bottom to the left of the screen. You can either share your photo as a Live or still photo. To be able to do so you will have to tap on the Live icon that is located on the top to the left side of the image that you have chosen.
