Explore all new features of Office 365

Life is a box of chocolates they say, not sure how true it is but it is definitely true that Office 365 is a package full of useful apps. Microsoft doesn’t fail to surprise it’s users as they add new application or a new feature on a monthly basis for the Office 365 subscribers. This is more than a compelling reason to choose Office 365 when transferring Outlook to new computer.

Here are some of the new features of Office 365 aiming to help teams streamline management of work, making the life of IT admins easier with the new feature helping them to manage Windows 10 devices better and also empowering the small and medium-sized business to grow.

New features of Office 365

    • @Mentions: Microsoft has come up with this new feature of Office 365 called as @Mentions in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. With this feature, you can directly get someone’s attention by mentioning them in the comments while working on shared documents, spreadsheets or presentations. If you are mentioned in any documents you will receive a notification via email telling you where exactly your input is required.
    • Make Remote actions on Windows 10 devices: This is one of the major upgrades to Office 365, where you can remotely access your Windows 10 devices. FastTrack for Office 365 supports the implementation of Co-management on Windows 10 devices which helps you get most of the Office 365 subscriptions. The result of implementing Co-management in your Windows 10 device enables your device to be managed by Configuration Manager and Microsoft Intune at the same time. With this feature, an IT admin can enable remote actions like factory reset and selective wipe for stolen or lost devices.
    • Get paid faster with Microsoft Bookings: Microsoft Bookings is a scheduling tool by Microsoft which allows customers of small businesses to book appointments with the company. The new feature of Microsoft Bookings allows companies to collect prepayment from the customers when they book an appointment with the company using Microsoft Bookings. Companies can also provide a direct link of Microsoft pay to the customer which is a secure and convenient payment option.
    • Discover and share videos across the Organisation securely: Microsoft is helping small and medium businesses to improve their teamwork and business. Microsoft Stream is an intelligent video service which is available to small and medium-sized businesses through Microsoft 365 Business, Office 365 Business Premium and Office 365 Business Essentials. Microsoft Stream has the ability to securely share videos across the organization and it also has some features like auto-generated and searchable transcripts, and AI-powered speaker detection.
    • Other new features of Office 365: Now you can Access live events in Microsoft 365 to connect leaders and employees across your organization and engage them with communities, content, and communication. Now Office lens mobile app has the Ink and Text Annotations.
    • Turn Off Forwarding for a Meeting:
      Outlook has this feature which allows you to send a meeting request to one or more people. Outlook also keeps track of who accepts the request and reserves time for meeting on your calendar. While creating a meeting request in Outlook, you can add a location, add attachments. You can also use the Scheduling Assistant to select the best time for the meeting. As part of new features of Office 365, there is a new feature in Outlook where you can turn off forwarding for a meeting.

      • How to Schedule a meeting in Outlook
        • Step 1: Create a meeting request in Outlook in any of the following ways:
          • Creating a meeting request from the Inbox:
            1. Open Outlook click on New items
            2. Select Meetings or press Ctrl + Shift + Q
          • Creating meeting request from the Calendar:
            1. Open Outlook and go to Calendar
            2. Click on New Meeting or press Ctrl + Shift + Q
          • Creating a meeting request from an email in the inbox:
            1. From an email in the inbox, select the Reply with Meeting button.
        • Step 2: Adding attendees while creating a Meeting request
          1. You can directly add your attendees to the To line of the meeting request
          2. For those users of Office 365 or an Exchange account, you can seek help of the Scheduling Assistant and see the Schedules of attendees
        • Step 3: Using Scheduling List to Add attendees:
          Open Outlook and select Scheduling Assistant, click the empty box under the box that’s displaying your name and type attendee’s name, email address or by opening your address book by clicking on Add Attendees button.
          There is an option of marking specific attendees as a Required attendee, Optional attendee or a Resource by clicking on the icon next to Attendee’s name.
        • Step 4: Add a meeting Subject, start and end time of meeting and the location. You can also attach a file by clicking on the insert menu and click on attach file to add the files of your choice.
        • Step 5: Click on Send, to send the meeting request. If you want to make this meeting as a recurring meeting click on recurring meeting with an appropriate recurrence option available from the list.
          This is how a meeting request is a sent in Outlook. Now the Office 365 users have a new feature which allows them to prevent attendees from forwarding the meeting request. If you are an Outlook user and want your hands on these features,  move Outlook to Office 365 and enjoy the services and benefits of Office 365.
          You can use this feature before sending the meeting request by clicking on Response options and Allow forwarding to toggle between allowing and not allowing the attendees to forward a meeting request. This feature of Outlook along with other above-mentioned features are only available in Office 365. Hence when you buy a new PC, consider opting for Office 365 services while moving Outlook to new computer.
