In order to get an iPod out of recovery mode, you have to restore iPod to its original factory settings. Following steps describe the entire procedure:

Step 1: First open iTunes on your iPod; make sure you have the latest version, if not then download and install the latest version.

(Note: To check this, click on Help on iTunes and scroll down to Check for Updates.)

Step 2: Connect your iPod to the computer with the USB cord; wait until your PC recognize your iPod. When you see the Source panel of iTunes, just click on it.

Step 3: On your iPod just click on the Summary tab and select Restore button to begin the process. Wait until you receive the list of Restore Options and choose Option 4. By doing this you will restore the iPod to the latest version of software available.

Step 4: Wait for the process to finish. Once the process is done a set of instructions will pop up. In case you have an older iPod model then disconnect it else, leave it connected to the computer.

Step 5: In case you are prompted not to remove then leave your iPod connected to the computer. The restoring process continues, wait for it to complete; once done your iPod will be out of recovery mode.
