Boot Windows with Boot Camp

Boot Camp is provided by Apple as a utility for running Windows separately into the computer. in order to use Windows, you will need to shut down from MacOS and boot back to Windows 10. This is one of the very good features provided by Apple which allows you to create a partition and get all the drivers required for Windows installation.

To Start Boot camp utilities – Go to Applications > Utilities

When you start boot camp, you will need an external pen drive or USB storage drive to make it bootable. The USB drive will be used to create either a bootable installation drive or it will download the latest Boot Camp driver.

So you will be able to create an installation disk for Windows or make a Windows Installation.

Check the Install Windows 7 or later version option.

You will be asked to give space for the partitions and once you are done, it will allow you to partition your drive.

Got to custom installation in order to install Windows 10 and format the partition that Boot Camp has created for your installation. This will prepare your system for a new Windows 10 installation.

Open file explorer and go to Boot Camp folder – you will find the setup.exe file.

Running the setup.exe file will install Windows 10 on your computer. It will include all the drivers, graphic, Ethernet, Bluetooth, webcam, audio etc. This will finish the windows installation in you MacBook.

Use Virtualization

The term virtualization is enough to understand that it will run windows virtually without any real manipulation in the existing system. So if you just need the Windows running for a few things and a bunch of software, you can use this approach. This will utilize a virtual machine inside MacOS by the use of some external application.

An advantage of using virtualization is that you don’t have to go for an extensive partition on your hard drive. It helps in saving considerable space as a lot of memory is wasted during partitioning.

The disadvantage of using virtual software to run Windows is fundamental and obvious. Virtualization allows multiple operating systems on a single platform. By doing this you are degrading the performance of the computer. it will result in a bad performance or significantly slower performance. Although, this is useful for many things that do not require much RAM or are light to run. So if you intend to run some light applications on Windows, you can very well use virtualization.

Only Windows on Macbook

If you intend to use only Windows on your Macbook without the second platform, you can do it with the help of Boot Camp. Leaving MacOS forever is not considered a good idea, but if you have decided to do that, it can be done easily.

The partitioning tool would not be used; you will have to wipe out the whole drive. So before doing anything else, you might have to get the backup of all the data in your computer. Keep in mind that if you have a backup in Time Machine, the newly installed Windows will not have access. So try to make a backup that can be restored after you have wiped out the hard drive and installed Windows 10.

The rest of the process is same as Boot Camp; you have to install all the drivers for boot camp. While installing Windows 10, you have to be cautious of the backup data and make sure the ISO file is fine. While proceeding, use the partition section to wipe out the hard disk and install the new operating system. In case the image is deleted it takes a little while in restoring .iso disc image file.

Using Windows 10 in Mac is quite different, but pleasant experience. If you like games, there are certain instances when you will really like Windows in your Macbook.
