What’s new in Android 4.3?

Finally, Google released the newer version of Android OS i.e. Android 4.3 the sweetest flavor of the Jelly Bean series. It comes with newer features included and older ones being updated with all flaws fixed. Multi-User Support with Restricted profiles

Android 4.3 is added with the new advanced multi-user settings that allow the group owners of the Android devices to share a single device with numerous different profiles for every user. Along with this, it also offers the restricted profiles. This enables the schools, colleges and parents to restrict their children to access certain inappropriate content.

For instance, parents can control what apps or games their kids have access to on their tablets. However, this new restricted feature is only available on Android tablets.

Bluetooth Smart Ready

With the introduction of the Bluetooth Smart ready feature, the devices running on Android 4.3 will now support the low-energy accessories. These Low energy Bluetooth accessories include heart rate monitors, pedometers, thermometers and many others. Users can even sync the low energy devices without affecting the battery usage of the device. This enables the users to conserve their battery life for other important tasks.

Autocomplete feature for Dial Pad

Android 4.3 now adds the autocomplete feature in the dial-pad. This suggests the contact names or phone numbers automatically when users start typing something. Of course, this is not a new features for some OEMs like Samsung and but devices running on the stock Android were missing them. Users can enable this feature by going to the app settings and enabling Dial Pad autocomplete.

OpenGL ES 3.0

New OpenGL ES 3.0 support is especially for game developers. This feature would make Android devices to render high quality graphics in games and other apps. Android 4.3 even supports the new version of the industry standard for high performance graphics.  The new update will show the detailed textures, lens flare, and reflections of the game or the app. This was missing in Android 4.2.

Keyboard and input

Android 4.3 comes with an upgraded algorithm that supports the tap-typing recognition. This feature makes text input easier even while chatting via messages or while composing the emails. In addition it brings a new Emoji keyboard, which was previously used in iOS. This update even adds lower latency input for gamepad buttons and joysticks.

Location accuracy features via Wi-Fi scan only mode

Google has now increased the location accuracy of Android devices with the introduction of Android 4.3. This allows the Android devices to perform location scan via Wi-Fi. It even enables the apps to get the location data through Wi-Fi even when Wi-Fi settings are set to off and not being used for data access.

Improvements in the Camera App

The Android 4.2 camera actually included a new way to get to the settings that wasn’t easy to use. The camera in Android 4.3 has been updated to fix this flaw. This Android 4.3 camera fine-tunes the way the previous version worked by placing the items in an arc wherein the selected item was clearly called out above your finger.

Notification Access

The Notification bar has been a popular feature on Android and with Android 4.3. Other Minor Updates and features added

  • Added support for Hebrew and Arabic (right-to-left) in the home screen, People, Settings, Phone, and Keep apps
