Hello friend, today morning first time I used dd command for cloning the software, I opened an terminal and entered (dd if=/dev/sdb6of=/dev/sda6 bs = 1M conv=noerro), when the process started within 30 seconds I realized, I had done a mistake and canceled the process, but it was too late and lost my NTFS partition of 79 GB data. Now I want to know is there any hope to get my partition data back? If yes, then please let me know as soon as possible! Thanks in advance.

Overview of DD:

DD (Data Description) is a command used in Linux environment which copies a file, converting the format of data in the process according to operands specified. Operands are:

  • bs = BYTES (read and write bytes at a time also see ibs =, obs=)
  • cbs = BYTES (covert BYTES bytes at a time)
  • conv = CONVS (This command is usually used to convert the file as per the comma separated symbol list. There are numerous symbols and represents a specific type of conversion.)
  • count = BLOCKS (copy only blocks and input blocks)

Note: Carefully use dd, inappropriately entering the values may destroy, wipe or delete partition data within fraction of seconds and prompt error message: file system damage on hard drive.
