Mac OS recovery mode is a built-in recovery system in Mac. You can use the utilities in Recovery mode to solve software issues and reinstall OS etc.
You can enter Recovery mode only through startup. Power on your Mac or if it’s turned on, restart your system. When the startup chime appears, hold Command + R until a new screen appears. The Mac OS utility window appears and will list the 4 options available.
Note: You can refer to this article to find out how to recover data lost after reinstalling Mac.
If you used any of the restores or reinstall utility and do not have a backup, all your data on the drive will be lost. In such cases, you will need professional data recovery tools to recover lost/deleted data from Mac, and in extreme cases like Mac Journal corruption.
